Thiago is one of the principal investigator (PI) of the project responsible for the study of the nonlinear optical interaction that are mediated both by electronic and mechanical properties on integrated photonics devices.
Assistant Professor of the Gleb Wataghin Physics Institute (IFGW) at the University of Campinas
Thiago Alegre is an Associate Professor in the Applied Physics Department at the “Gleb Wataghin” Institute of Physics (IFGW) from the University of Campinas (Unicamp). His research group is focused on classical and quantum interactions between light and acoustic waves in micro- and nanostructured devices. Since 2019 he is also vice-Coordinator of the Undergraduate Committee at IFGW. He was elected an affiliated member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences for the 2019-2024 term and has been a Member of the Editorial Advisory Board for APL Photonics journal since 2019. Received his B.S. in Physics from Universidade Estadual de Campinas in 2003, and his Ph.D. degree in Physics from the same university in 2008. He was a postdoctoral scholar in the Department of Applied Physics at Caltech, USA, from 2008 to 2011. Between 2014 and 2018 he also coordinated the LIEF, an outreach laboratory for science and education holsted at IFGW. He is also a member of the Brazilian Physical Society, the Brazilian Photonics Society and the Optical Society of America.
