Pierre works on sources of quantum light, investigating how to develop novel emitters, such as 2D materials, that can be integrated to photonic circuits as tunable single-photon sources.
Assistant Professor of the Gleb Wataghin Physics Institute (IFGW) at the University of Campinas
Pierre has a B.Sc, an M.Sc. and a Sc.D. in Physics from the Federal University of Minas Gerais. During his doctoral research, he studied the manipulation of entanglement in the transverse degrees of freedom of biphotons generated by spontaneous parametric down-conversion.
He then went on to work as a post-doc for two years (2012-2013) in the Nanophysics and Semiconductors group of the Néel Institute, in Grenoble, France. There he worked on single-photon sources in vertical microfabricated waveguides as hybrid optomechanical systems. From 2014 to 2016, Pierre was a post-doc at the Semiconductor Optics lab of the Federal University of Minas Gerais, studying 2D materials as prospective single-photon sources and hybrid optomechanical systems, and optical forces in dielectric waveguides.
Since 2017 Pierre is an Assistant Professor at the University of Campinas.
